Il cognome Tocci compare fin dal primo registro anagrafico del comune di San Marco Argentano risalente al 1809: vi è registrata la nascita di Antonio Gaspare Maria figlio di Michelina Mele e di Fortunato Tocci, maestro muratore.
Non abbiamo notizie antecedenti e, quindi, non possiamo dire se Fortunato fosse nato a San Marco o in un altro comune, ma abbiamo trovato una Tocci Carmela (qui non trascritta) nata a San Benedetto Ullano, da dove forse proveniva anche il capostipite di questo ceppo.
Abitarono in via Sant'Antonio Abate sia il capostipite che il nipote Angelo Raffaele. Dopo il 1871 non abbiamo più notizie di questo cognome.

We have not preceding informations about, so we cannot say whether Fortunato was born in San Marco or elsewhere, but we found a Carmela Tocci (not written here) born in San Benedetto Ullano; maybe that also the founder of this family was coming from that town.
He and his grandson Angelo Raffaele were inhabiting at Sant'Antonio Abate street. After 1871 we have no more informations about this surname.
